HANDBUILDING CLASSES

Handbuilding is the method of manipulating clay using ones hands and hand held tools. Children will use slab, coil and pinch techniques to create and paint ceramic projects. Basic project shapes are predetermined for each class of the session. All classes are drop off classes. Completed pieces will be ready for pick up in approximately 3 weeks.

WHEELTHROWING CLASSES

Wheelthrowing is pottery on a pottery wheel. During the classes, children will work on a pottery wheel and learn all the different techniques used to make a wheel thrown ceramic pieces. Completed pieces will be ready for pick up in approximately 3 weeks.​

MAKE UP POLICY: Please review the information below. 

  • Students are permitted one make-up class per session.
  • Make-ups usually entail coming in earlier for one or more classes, depending on the project missed. We are unable to conduct make ups for the first or last class of the wheelthrowing session
  • Please inform us by email at least 2 hours prior to the class time if your child is unable to attend a class. We are unable to provide make-ups for classes missed without prior notification.​​


For ages 5 to 8 (must be 5 at the start of the session)

Clay Handbuilding Class: $250, 6 week session

This is a structured, instruction based class where different projects and techniques are introduced to students. Step by step instruction are given to make, decorate and paint fun clay projects.


​For ages 8 and up

Clay Handbuilding Class/Independent Study : $250, 6 week session

This class is designed to allow older kids with or without experience explore clay at their own pace. The instructor will provide guidance with sculpture, coil, slab and pinch techniques.


For ages 10 to 17 (must be 10 at the start of the session)

Wheelthrowing Class: $260, 6 week session

During the classes, children will work on a pottery wheel and learn all the different techniques and steps to make a wheel thrown ceramic pieces.
